Williamsburg, KY- Shara Randez goal in the 23' was the difference as the UC women's soccer team defeated Reinhardt 1-0 Saturday night at the UC Soccer Complex. With the victory the Patriots remain undefeated and improve to 3-0 on the season.

From the opening whistle, UC's offense took control taking a pair of shots in the first nine minutes, however, the Eagles were able to keep them off the board with their strong defense. The Patriots backline kept the Eagles in check allowing only three shots in the first half. In this defensive battle, the Patriots struck first in the 23' as Emily Willoughby began a transition down the left side of the field and crossed to Amy Anderson inside the box. Anderson then connected with Randez, who connected with the back of the net to give UC a 1-0 lead with 22:58 remaining in the first half. For the next ten minutes both teams split possession until Reinhardt's Abby Vincencio-Aguilar took a quick shot on goal only to be saved by Nicole Panis, holding the Eagles scoreless at halftime.

UC opened the second half with some offensive fire as Naira Lopez, Willoughby, and Anderson all recorded shots on goal in the first ten minutes. The Eagles continued to try to find offensive momentum but were unable to convert any of their shots in the beginning of the second half and the back-and-forth possession battle between both teams continued. The Patriots impassable backline held Reinhardt shotless for the next 23 minutes before the Eagles looked to score the equalizer in the 62'. Panis came up big with her second save of the night from a Reinhardt shot outside the penalty box, holding the Eagles scoreless.

The Patriots remained on top for the remainder of the match to earn the 1-0 win over Reinhardt. Panis tallied a pair of saves on the contest and earned her second shutout of the season. Randez has now scored three goals in the last two games to lead the team.

UC returns to action tomorrow, September 1, as they host 8th-ranked Georgia Gwinnett in their second match of the Labor Day weekend. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm. Live stream will be available here, and live stats will be available here.
