Campbellsville, KY – The UC men's tennis team posted a perfect 6-0 record in doubles matches at the Campbellsville Invitational Saturday afternoon.
UC's #1 doubles team of
Eric Banoub and
Martin Barbier, who finished 16-3 last season, continued their winning ways with a 2-0 record. The duo posted an 8-4 win over G. Fensler and Burman of IU Southeast before defeating Georgetown's Wilson and Clarke 8-3.
Anthony Kwok and
Luis Montull began the day with an 8-4 win over D. Fensler and Winchell (IU Southeast) before defeating Nosek and Piunti (Georgetown) 8-5.
Cumberlands' duos of
Mattis Le Montagner and Taki Umeda as well as
Jan Dietrich and
Sjoerd Nijssen both finished the day with a 1-0 record in doubles play. Montagner and Umeda posted an 8-3 win over Cross and C. Burman (IU Southeast), while Dietrich and Nijssen recorded a 8-5 win over Smallwood and Perez.
In individual play, Montagner, Nijssen, and Dietrich each recorded a win for UC. Montagner tallied a 6-3, 6-2 win over Gonzalez (Union), Nijssen defeated Kuhnel (Union) 7-5, 6-1, and Dietrich posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Gasparovic (Union).
The Patriots will return to the court Saturday, September 21, when they host the UC Invite 1 at the UC Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
