Williamsburg, KY – Patriots battled well against the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan for a full-length match, holding the opposition to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes of action. The men move to 4-2-1 on the year after the aggressive match.
Nahshon Rullow was able to place a fantastic header in the fifth minute of action. The senior defender came up from the backfield for the corner kick opportunity, finding the end off a long cross from
Joel Drewery.
Later in the first half, Tennessee Wesleyan scored the equalizer from roughly 30 yards out, just outside of the box. From the right wing, the ball lofted just over the hands of
Akililu Zambataro. The Bulldogs were allowed 17 shots total on the night, eight of which on goal.
Zambataro accumulated seven saves through the night in attempt to keep the opposition off the board. In addition to the counted saves, the rookie also collected several cross attempts in the box to end many Bulldog runs.
Marvin van der Made led the Patriots in shot attempts with four, placing two of them on frame. From the bench,
Sergio Infantes Castell kept pace with three more offered toward goal.
The Patriots were allowed 12 shot opportunities in the contest as Tennessee Wesleyan's defense were able to scope out many offensive opportunities. The home team only were able to place five shots on target.
After their first tie game of the season, the Patriots regroup to face Point University. The match-up between Cumberlands and the Skyhawks will occur on home turf this Thursday, kicking off at 3 PM.
