Williamsburg, KY – After another successful week Cumberlands athletics, bowler Sarah Doyle and guard Tevin Olison were selected as the Domino's Athletes of the Week, announced by the athletic department Monday.
Doyle notched the female athlete of the week honors after recording a top-ten finish at the Cincinnati Collegiate Classic. The senior knocked down 1,865 pins, over the course of nine games, to finish tied for sixth in the individual standings. Doyle hit at least 200 pins in five of the nine games, including a weekend best 256 in game seven. The Georgetown, KY native also notched 242 in game eight and 227 in game two. The reigning NAIA All-American helped UC to a sixth-place finish at the conference event.
Olison earned the male athlete of the week honors after leading the Patriots to a pair wins over ranked opponents. The junior averaged 27.0 points and 5.0 rebounds to go along with 3.0 assists in the two games. Olison recorded a career-high 33 points, with seven three-pointers and drained the game-winning three-pointer with 3.7 seconds remaining in UC's 73-70 win over Shawnee State. He started the week with 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists as UC knocked off 14th-ranked Pikeville. Olison performance helped Cumberlands extend their win streak to nine straight and post an undefeated January for the first time since at least 2002.
