Williamsburg, KY- With less than a week from the start of their season, the Patriots women's basketball team adds another talented athlete to their 2021-22 class. Chelsey Napier joins Cumberlands from Hazard, KY where she's been a key player on the Perry County Central High School girl's basketball team.
 
A natural athlete, Napier also competes on the Commodore's track and cross country teams as well as the AAU Kentucky Dream team. Talented in all realms of sport, Napier considers playing basketball in college to be one of her greatest accomplishments, "It was a childhood dream of mine to get to play college basketball and to know I made it means the world to me."
 
Headed into her senior year, Napier is expected to take on a greater role and continue her multifaceted contribution. In 2019-20, she was second on the team in both points and rebounds with 228 and 121, respectively. The forward averaged 9.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
 
Lady Dores head coach Misty McAlarnis  is excited to see her senior commit to play at the next level, "To see a young athlete as Chelsey bloom into a player, to fulfill her dream and sign, especially during a trying time, it's just a really good feeling to see and be able to be here and witness her [signing]."
 
"I'm beyond excited to further my academic and basketball career at the University of the Cumberlands," Napier continues, "especially knowing what great hands I'll be in with coach Rick Reeves and the program he's built."
 
Napier will step onto the court in the 2021-22 season while pursuing a degree in nursing.
