Kendrick Garnered NAIA Third Team All-American Honors

Kansas City, MO – After leading the Cumberlands women's basketball team in several statistical categories, while producing career-highs in each category, Patriots guard Joy Kendrick has been named a NAIA Third Team All-American, the national office announced Monday.  It marks the fourth straight year that a UC player has garnered NAIA All-American accolades. 

"Joy has worked tirelessly to improve every season throughout her career culminating in an incredible senior campaign," said Head Coach Rick Reeves.  "Joy made a fantastic impact on our program and was one of the most consistent players down the home stretch.
 
Kendrick led the Patriots in seven statistical categories, including points, ppg, assists, and steals.  The Albany, GA has netted 533 points, averaging 17.2 ppg, which ranks fourth in the conference.  Kendrick also ranked second in the MSC converting 43.8% from behind-the-arc, while her 100 assists ranked fifth.
 
The senior's 533 points ranks seventh in program history for points in a season as Kendrick's 43.8% from behind-the-arc is sixth-best.  Kendrick had a breakout season, that featured scoring her 1,000th career point in the MSC semifinal game against Freed-Hardeman.  She scored in double figures in 29 games, while she netting 20+ points in 12 games.  Kendrick netted a career-high 26 points in the MSC semifinal game against Freed-Hardeman and followed it up with 25 points in UC's NAIA opening round game against Indiana Wesleyan. 

The Albany, GA native closed out the year with a career-high 51 steals and 100 assists, while grabbing 146 rebounds.  Kendrick tallied a pair of double-doubles, including a 23-point, 11 rebound performances against Huntington.  The senior  was the Patriots most efficient shooting with 49.2% from the field and 81.5% from the charity stripe.
 
Kendrick closed out her career ranked second in program history hitting 41.5% from three-point range.  She is the 31st Patriot player to join the 1,000 point club as she closes out her career with 1,034 points.  Kendrick also finished with 400 rebounds, 268 assists, and 122 steals.
 
Cumberlands closed out the season with a 19-12 record and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the sixth consecutive season.
