MSC Preseason Poll
Bowling Green, KY – Coming off their second straight Mid-South Conference title, the UC men's swimming team are favored to make it three straight as they earned eight first-place votes and 64 points in the MSC Preseason Coaches Poll, announced Thursday. It marks the second straight year that the Patriots were favored in the poll.
The Patriots have returned seven NAIA All-Americans from last year's team, including
John Morgan McDonald who compiled a team-best three All-American honors. The Bishop, GA native set a pair of school records in the 1000 free (9:41.24) and the 1650 free (16:01.24) and earned All-American honors in the 500 free and the 1650 free.
Other NAIA All-Americans returning to the Patriots including
Evan Hawkins, Julio Hack da Silva,
Zane Spurlock,
Nathan Souza,
Nicolas Cecioni,
Mikolaj Kala, and
Alan Senn. Senn earned All-American honors in the 400 IM, while all others were part of UC relay teams that earned All-American honors.
In addition to that, the Patriots have brought in 11 newcomers to this year's team that will provide depth in key events and score points at both the conference and national levels. Highlighting this year's newcomers are
Peyton Berter (Breast/IM),
Gavin Fuchs (Fly/Free), and
Daniel Ruiz Ramis (Sprint Free).
Lindsey Wilson earned 53 points and the final first-place vote to be ranked second, while Loyola was picked third in the conference.
Cumberlands will return to the water this afternoon in their home opener against Union and Thomas More in a double dual. No fans will be allowed at this meet, which is set for 4 pm, however live video of the meet will be available
