Bowling Green, KY – After a successful virtual meet, which saw UC notch its second win over a top-ten opponent, freshman Martin Herion has been named the Mid-South Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, announced by conference officials Monday.  It marks the first time this season and of his career that he earned this honor.

Herion had a strong weekend tallying five wins and four NAIA national cuts.  The Liege, Belgium native posted a provisional cut in all three of his individual events, including the 100 fly that he won with a time of 51.01.  That time not only give Herion the win but is also the fastest time in the NAIA this season.

The freshman also took top honors in the 200 fly, touching the wall in 1:56.87, while finishing runner-up in the 100 free with a time of 47.48. On the national level, Herion ranks third and second, respectfully, in those events.

In addition to his individual success, Herion was also part of three winning relays for UC.  He led the 200 medley relay to a NAIA "A" cut finishing with a time of 1:37.41, while also being on the 400 free relay (3:13.63) and the 200 free relay (1:27.55).

The Patriots will return to the water Wednesday, December 9, when they travel to Wilmore, KY to take part in the Asbury Invitational.  That meet is a three-day meet and will serves as UC's mid-season meet.
