Williamsburg, KY – Due to Tuesday's rain, the Patriots softball season opener has been postponed. The opener was to be a doubleheader between Cumberlands and Tennessee Wesleyan at the UC Softball Complex.
 
The doubleheader has been moved to March 3, slated for 3 and 5 PM at the UC Softball Complex. The Patriots previously scheduled a road trip to Athens, TN on March 31 for a mid-season non-conference match up to round out the four-game series.
 
Now, the Patriots will open their season on the road in Lawrenceville, GA at the Grizzly Open, hosted by Georgia Gwinnett. Cumberlands is slated to play four games at the softball invite; live stats and live video will be provided.
 
The Patriots begin action on Friday February 14 at 1 PM with a two-game, two-day set against the Eagles of Reinhardt, who also received votes in the NAIA Preseason Coaches' Poll. The two teams meet for the second and third time in program history, last seeing each other on the field in 2017.
 
Game two of day one will be against the number-five Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies at 5 PM. The Patriots follow with an 11 AM start on Saturday against the Rio Grande Red Storm.
 
The Patriots first game at the UC Softball Complex will now be on February 29 against West Virginia Tech. This follows a six-game spread at the Bear Creek Tournament, hosted by Cumberlands at the Bear Creek Sports Complex in Oneida, TN on February 21 to 23.
