Box Score Danville, KY- Cumberlands men's tennis dominated their competition for the second straight match as they took down Centre 7-0 on Sunday afternoon. A clean sweep of both the doubles matches and the singles matches put the Pats up to 2-2 on the season.
Partners in the #3 doubles slot
Sjoerd Nijssen and
Taiki Umeda got the sweep started with an 8-4 victory over Centre's Owen Aslup and Newcomb Maddox. The #1 doubles pair,
Martin Barbier and
Eric Banoub, finished next with another 8-4 victory and securing UC's point.
Luis Montull and
Anthony Kwok brought up the tail with an 8-7 (7-2) win against the Colonel's #2 doubles pair.
The Patriots continued their superior performance as Barbier and Banoub won in straight sets, giving UC the 3-0 lead. To clinch the match, Montull took down Max Middleton in a three set showdown (4-6, 6-1, 10-5). With the win secured, Kwok, Sjoerd, and
Jan Dietrich finished out their matches all winning by at least three points, to give UC the 7-0 sweep of the Colonels.
The Patriots have now 14 straight games through two matches.
The Patriots hit the road again on Friday, February 21 to take on cross-town rival Union College. The first serve is set for 2pm.
