Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Third-Ranked Women’s Lacrosse Soar Past (RV) Skyhawks 24-4

West Point, GA – The third-ranked UC women's lacrosse team scored the first 16 goals of the contest en route to a 24-4 win over (RV) Point Monday afternoon.  With the win the Patriots improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Skyhawks move to 2-2.

The Patriots had nine different players record at least one goal in the win led by Jaclyn Berry, who finished with seven goals and two assists. Samantha Tullar notched her second straight five goal performance, while Emily Heim finished with eight points, three goals and five assists.  Bella Ricchiazzi also chipped in five points in the win. 

Defensively, Emily Crump and Olivia McCarrell split time in goal and they each made a pair of saves. Stephanie Meyer and Trinity Brown tied for the team lead with five ground balls each.Tullar scooped eight draw controls as well.

UC came out strong in the first half as Heim connected with Berry for a goal 26 seconds into the game to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead. The assist was Heim's 100th of her career; she becomes the first player in program history to reach that milestone. Berry, Heim, and Tullar combined for the next four goals to extend UC's lead to 5-0 with 23:58 remaining. Ricchiazzi added back-to-back goals coupled with an assist to Berry to push the lead to 8-0 ten minutes into the first half.

Several minutes later Kenzie Rogers netted her first collegiate goal to extend the lead to 10-0. Cumberlands added four more goals, before Florence Andrieu posted her first goal as Patriot to push the lead to 15-0 with 5:52 remaining.  On the next Patriot possession Reegan Hensley connected with Katie Brewer for goal, however, Point added a pair of goals to cut the lead to 16-2 at the break.

Patriots strong play carried into the second half as Heim connected with Berry to score a goal three minutes in.The Berry-Tullar connection hooked up twice, before Meyer and Heim added unassisted goals, pushing the lead to 22-2 with 18:50 remaining. Berry added UC's final two goals for the 24-4 final.

Cumberlands will return to the field Sunday, February 23, when they host sixth-ranked Lawrence Tech at the UC Lacrosse Complex.  The game is scheduled to start at 12pm with live stats available here and live video available here.
