Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | Tommy Chasanoff

Balance Scoring Leads 2nd-Ranked Patriots to 26-0 Win

Williamsburg, KY  – 13 different Patriots scored as the second-ranked UC women's lacrosse team defeated Columbia 26-0 Saturday night at the UC Lacrosse Complex. With the win the Patriots improve to 4-0 on the season and notch their second shutout in program history.

Bella Ricchiazzi lead the way for UC with four goals and seven assists. Her seven assists ties the sophomore with Emily Heim for most assists in a single game. Stephanie Meyer also etched her named into the Patriots record book with nine ground balls, five draw controls, and four points.  Florence Andrieu dished out four assists to go along with five points, while Rachel Leigh finished with four points.

The Patriots scooped 21 draw controls, led by Tullar with seven, and caused 10 turnovers.  Defender Elizabeth Fladung notched her first career hat trick, while Kelly Webb, Hannah Churchley, and Trinity Brown finished with one goal each. 

Tullar got the scoring start two minutes into the first half to mark the fourth straight game that UC scored first.  Ricchaizzi connected with Leigh and Katie Brewer for goals, before Brewer netted her 96th career goal to make it 4-0 UC.  A couple minutes later, Kelly Webb and Fladung scored consecutive goals to push the lead to 8-0 ten minutes in. Carolina Johnson recorded her first collegiate goal as Andrieu dished out a pair of assists and added a goal over the next five minutes.  Trinity Brown and Kenzie Rogers each added a goal in the final minutes of the half to give UC a 15-0 lead at the break.

Rogers notched her first multigoal game of her career as Leigh found her on the first possession of the second half.  Cumberlands added three more goals before Churchley put a well-placed bounce shot inside the pipes to make it 20-0 with 18:06 remaining.  Cumberlands added six more goals with Meyer connecting with Reegan Hensley and added a pair of goals of her own for the 26-0 final.  The Patriots backline held Columbia to 0 shots in the second half.

Emily Crump made one save in her first career shutout.  It's the programs first shutout since February 28, 2017 when they defeated Johnson & Wales 23-0.

Cumberlands will return to the field Monday, March 2, when they host Shorter at the UC Lacrosse Complex.  The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. with live stats available here and live video available here.
