Box Score West Palm Beach, FL – The UC men's tennis team won a double and a pair of singles matches against Keiser but could not overcome the Seahawks in a 5-2 loss on Friday afternoon.
UC won the #1 doubles against the Seakhawks starting with
Martin Barbier and
Eric Banoub defeating Riccardo Ferraris and Juan Marrero 7-5. Luke Simkiss and Geronimo Barrios took down Cumberlands'
Jan Dietrich and
Mattis Le Montagner 6-2 in the #2 doubles match.
Luis Montull and
Anthony Kwok finished out the doubles matches with a 6-3 loss against Julian Turosienski and Carl Liljenburg to give Keiser a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
Junior Barbier got the Patriots started but was defeated against Simkiss in the #1 singles 6-3, 6-2. Montull was also taken down in the #2 match to Barrios 6-1, 6-2, but Le Montagner kept UC in the race with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Marrero in match #3. Banoub battled against Keiser's Turosienski but was defeated in a 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 triple set showdown in the #4 match. Although the Seahawks had clinched the win by this point, the Patriots kept fighting. Kwok defeated Ferraris 6-4, 6-3 in the #5 match before
Sjoerd Nijssen was defeated by Gerard Rodriguez in a tight 6-2, 6-7 #6 match.
The Patriots will return to the court on Sunday, February 9, when they head to Babson Park, FL to take Webber International. The first serve is set for 2pm.
