Box Score Williamsburg, KY – The 13
th-ranked UC men's tennis team opened up their 2020 home schedule by extending their win streak to five straight wins with a 7-0 victory over (RV) Grace Saturday afternoon at the UC Tennis Complex. With the win, the Patriots improve to 5-2 on the season and notch their fourth 7-0 win over the year.
Cumberlands struck first taking the doubles point after winning two of the three matches. UC's #1 doubles duo of
Martin Barbier and
Eric Banoub remain undefeated after notching a 6-0 win over Milan Savic and Fabricio Galvin. The duo of Barbier and Banoub is now 7-0 at #1 doubles this season. UC's dropped #2 doubles, however,
Luis Montull and
Anthony Kwok recorded a 6-3 win at #3 doubles to clinch the doubles point and give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.
UC continued their strong play in singles play sweeping all six matches. Montull extend the Patriots lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at #2 singles, while
Mattis Le Montagner notched a 6-1, 6-2 win at #3 singles for his fourth straight win. Barbier clinched the match for Cumberlands with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Max Rozas at #1 singles to give Cumberlands a 4-0 lead.
Sjoerd Nijssen and
Jan Dietrich posted 6-3, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1 wins at the #5 and #6 position to extend the lead to 6-0. Kwok closed out the match with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 win over Ramiro Candia for the 7-0 final.
The Patriots will return to the court Sunday, March 8, when they host Southwestern College at the UC Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
