Box Score Lawrenceville, GA- The UC men's tennis team was defeated by the top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies on Monday afternoon in their final match before opening Mid-South Conference play. With the 7-0 loss, UC moves to a record of 6-3.
 
The Patriots began the match with doubles play as #1 doubles duo Martin Barbier and Eric Banoub faced the second-ranked team of Federico Bonacia and Valentino Caratini. Barbier and Banoub fell in the match 6-1, while Mattis Le Montagner and Jan Dietrich conceded to the ninth-ranked doubles team in the #2 position. Luis Montulll and Anthony Kwok also fell in their doubles match 6-2 to the #25 doubles team.

With the Bears up 1-0, Barbier looked to get UC on the board but fell short in his #1 singles position 7-5, 7-5. Next up, Montull faced the challenge of #1 overall singles player Jose Dugo where he was defeated 6-3, 6-2. Le Montagner and Banoub also dropped their matches to the fifth nationally and sixteenth regionally ranked players, respectively. In the #5 and #6 spots, Kwok and Dietrich lost to a pair of top twenty tennis players.

The Patriots will return to the court on Friday, March 20, when they host Shawnee State for their first match against an MSC opponent. First serve is set for 4pm.
