Bowling Green, KY - For the first time in 2021 the UC women's bowling team hit the lanes at the Bowling Green Baker Shootout. The field consisted of 11 Mid-South Conference teams competing in their first tournament since October 24.Â
Â
The top-ten was decided by just over 500 pins from the 25 baker games. UC finished in 10th place knocking down 4,152 pins. Pikeville led the entire field with a combined score of 4,689.
Â
All of the teams had to adjust to a new tournament style of play for the opening tournament of the spring. Typically the baker style tournament is comprised of 40 games, but the 25 baker games proved to be a challenge for all competitors.
Â
Across the 25 games the Patriots bowled their best in game two knocking down 200 pins. The team also finished the day strong with their second best game of 184 coming in game 25. Cumberlands averaged 166.08 pins per game.
Â
All four seniors suited up for Cumberlands with Megan Kelly, Reighann Oliphant, Mickayla Shannon and Kerrigan Welch. Sophomores Kiara Abanto, Allysen Coryell, and Erika Taylor all competed for UC. Bowling in her first spring collegiate tournament was Haleigh Lawwell.
Â
The Patriots will have time to regroup before their next MSC tournament that starts on January 23 in Cincinnati, OH.
