Bowling Green, KY – The University of the Cumberlands Women's Bowling team went 1-2 on day two of the Mid-South Conference Tournament to conclude their time in Bowling Green.
The No. 4 seeded Patriots opened the day with a quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded Pikeville University but fell 1-0. Pikeville took set one by a score of 1137-908 before closing out the match with an 1117-925 win in set two.
Cumberlands moved into the elimination bracket where all matches were contested in a best-of-seven baker format. The Patriots responded with a victory over No. 3 seed Tennessee Wesleyan, earning a 1-0 win after claiming four of the six games contested. UC won games two (213-186), three (204-182), five (204-176), and game six ended tied at 204-204 to seal the match. Tennessee Wesleyan took games one (177-150) and four (190-158).
In their next elimination match, the Patriots faced No. 6 seed Shawnee State University but came up short, falling 1-0 in a tightly contested best-of-seven series. UC picked up wins in games two (172-171), four (247-135), and six (201-173), while Shawnee State secured victories in games one (192-173), three (194-169), five (203-187), and seven (185-182).
The Patriots will return to the lanes February 14–15 when they compete in the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, IN.
