#24 Patriots Fall to the #16 Blue Raiders, 4-0

Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots dropped their second Mid-South Conference game of the season, falling to #16 Lindsey Wilson 4-0. The win for LWC continues their unbeaten streak in conference play to four wins.

UC had the first chance of the game with a free kick in the second minute, Liam Healey sent the ball into the box and it was headed by Gabriel Figurski Vieira but, The Blue Raider goalkeeper saved the ball from crossing the line.

In the fifth minute of the game the Blue Raiders had a threatening attack. LWC had their attacker one-on-one with keeper, Nathan Hart, and was able to get around him. However, Figurski Vieira hustled back on defense and stopped Lindsey Wilson from having a wide-open shot, sliding in to make the stop.

The game was tied up at shots at two a piece, showing an evenly contested match. Then in the 30' the Patriots were given a red card after a collision in their offensive box resulting in Cumberlands playing the remainder of the match down a player.

UC weathered the offensive attack by LWC well the rest of the half, limiting the Blue Raiders to just one goal which came off a corner kick in the 38th minute.

Lindsey Wilson took the 1-0 lead into the second half. Unfortunately, the one-man advantage was too much for Cumberlands. The Blue Raiders were on the attack for most of the half firing off 13 shots compared to the Patriots one. LWC converted three of those shots, all of them within ten minutes to win 4-0.

Hart did come up with four saves in the contest, three of which in the second half. Four saves is the second most of Hart's career and the senior has had 14 saves combined in his last three games.

With the 2-4-3 record on the season, the Patriots will look to rebound in their next game against Freed-Hardeman on Thursday, October 7 in Henderson, TN. The match can be live streamed here.
