Marietta, GA – Patriots fall against #12 Life 0-3 (17-25, 21-25, 20-25), with a Patriot earning a season-high in blocks. This loss ends a six-match win streak for UC.

Lily Chapman led the UC offence notching 10 kills, while adding 4 digs. Shelby Lackey added four kills. Juliet Banks led the team in digs with 10, and Allyson Grava added eight. Danielle Jackson had a season-high of six block assists. Savanah Schwarz came away with 10 assists, and Lexi Lester added nine.

The first set started slowly for the Patriots, as Life was able to take the first set 17-25. During the set UC found themselves down 3-12 but was able to cut the lead down after an 11- 5 run. The run featured a kill and an ace by Grava, also two kills by Chapman, and a kill by Emily Prewitt.

Life got the scoring started in the second set with a kill. But an ace from Kendall Arnold and kills by Lackey and Olivia Verdecchia gave UC an early lead. Life responded with a 6-1 run forcing a timeout by the Patriots. Following the timeout Lackey notched a kill. After a 5-0 run by the Running Eagles, UC went on a 4-0 run to close the gap 10-13, the run featured three blocks, Jackson was apart of all three with help from Verdecchia and Lackey. Following a Life timeout, UC kept it close, but Life was able to get the final two kills to end the set.

The third set was tightly contested the whole way, but a kill by Chapman gave the Patriots a 12-11 lead, prompting a Running Eagle timeout. Following the timeout, Life was able to get a 14-18 lead. Following a Anna Blumeier and Chapman kill, Life would go on a 6-3 run to end the set 20-25

The Patriots fall to 14-6 on the season and is 5-3 against conference foes. The Cumberlands return to the court tomorrow Saturday October 9 for a match at UT Southern at 3 PM. For Live Video click here. For Live Stats click here.
