Bowling Green, KY – Cumberlands continues to up their game in the classroom with more players making the Mid-South Conference All-Academic Team once again. For the pat three season UC has increased the number of student-athletes on the list. They notched nine in 2019, 12 in 2020 and now 13 in 2021.
Leading the way for the Patriots is
Alejandro Gonzalez Salinas who has earned the honor in three seasons, the most on the roster.
For the second straight season Tres Cima,
Liam Healey, Christian Kustwan,
Ricardo Lopes de Matos,
Brandon McDonald,
Marco Muca,
Akililu Zambataro all get their name on the list as well.
In their first year of eligibility for the award Cameron Kinsey,
Hrannar Magnusson,
Aleksandar Mirkovic,
Tommaso Ogliari, and
Ingmar Struck all garnered Academic All-Conference accolades.
Struck was also named the Champions of Character representative for Cumberlands, adding to his list of honors.
Georgetown (Ky.) led all MSC institutions with 23 honorees. Bethel (Tenn.) had the second-most in the conference with 17 while Cumberland (Tenn.) had 15 honorees.
In order to be nominated for the All-Academic team each athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, and have completed at least one year at a college or university. The MSC recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values of the NAIA.
The Patriots are getting ready to start postseason play on Friday, November 5. Cumberlands is hosting Campbellsville for the MSC Quarterfinals. The game is slated for a 6PM with live video available on the UC Sports Network
