Destiny Haworth caps off her week by earning the MSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades, the conference office announced Monday. She becomes the first Patriot to earn this honor this season as the Maryville, TN native garners her first away of her career.
Haworth opened the week tallying a career-high 27 points, including converting 7-10 from deep, to help the Patriots defeat Reinhardt, a 2021 NAIA national qualifier, 99-90. Haworth's seven three-pointers ties the program record for most 3's in a single game. The freshman hit four three's in the second quarter and added nine points in the fourth quarter to help UC close out the game.
She followed that up with a 14 point performance against Miami-Hamilton, before finishing up the week with 20 points, including six in the fourth quarter, in Cumberlands 76-70 win over Alice Lloyd. Haworth closed out the week shooting 48.7% from the field and 54.2% from behind-the-arc. In addition to scoring Haworth added seven assists, four rebounds, and two steals on the week.
On the season, the freshman is averaging 19.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
Cumberlands has opened the season 4-0 and will take that unbeaten streak on the road Tuesday, November 9, when they face IU East with a 7 p.m. tip-off. Live video of the game is available
