Bowling Green, KY – The Patriots volleyball team see 18 players on the 2021 MSC Academic All-Conference team, announced on Tuesday morning by the conference office. A total of 131 athletes was named to the list. The Champion of Character was also announced on Monday with
Ashley Sobocinski claiming the award.
Of the 18 Patriots on the list,
Lily Chapman,
Maddie Kosky,
Olivia Pearcey,
Rachel Scott,
Ashley Sobocinski, and
Olivia Verdecchia make their third straight appearance on the list.
While
Savanah Schwarz,
Lexi Lester,
Emily Prewitt,
Danielle Jackson,
Alyssa Carter,
Erica Webb, and
Bryce Tucker makes this honors list for the second time. Newcomers to the list this year is
Kira Ervin,
Allyson Grava,
Sydney Reed,
Abigail Sparkman, Cameron Taylor.
In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.
The MSC recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values of the NAIA.
UC heads into the conference championships on Thursday November 11 as the 6
th seed. The Patriots are set to play Freed-Hardeman at 12:30 CT & 1:30 ET in Bowling Green, KY.
