Bowling Green, KY – Coming off an impressive win in the 1,000 free against Midway, freshman
Ashley Schoenlein garnered the Mid-South Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week honors, conference officials announce Monday. The Mason, OH native becomes the third Patriot to achieve conference accolades this season.
Schoenlein capped off the 2021 portion of Cumberlands competing in three events at the dual against Midway, where majority of UC swimmers competed in off events. Schoenlein clocked an 11:34.23 to win the 1,000 free by over a minute, in her first attempt at the event this season. The freshman's time is the sixth fastest time in the Mid-South Conference this season.
The Mason, OH native also competed in the 50 free, where she touched the wall in 26.83 to place fourth in the event. Schoenlein opened the meet splitting a 31.76 to leadoff the Patriots "C" 200 medley relay.
Schoenlein has hit four NAIA provisional cuts on the season, including in both breaststroke and the 200 IM.
Cumberlands has concluded the 2021 portion of their schedule with a 4-0 mark in dual meets. The Patriots will return to the water on Friday, January 14
th, when they travel to Wilmore, KY to face Asbury and Lincoln in a double-dual meet.
