Columbia, KY – A well-executed defensive game for both Cumberlands and #7 Lindsey Wilson results in a 0-0 tie after 2 OT. Both teams were limited with chances in front of goal only recording a combined six goals on net in 110 minutes played.

Holding the Blue Raiders to zero goals, marks the first time this year Akililu Zambataro has recorded a shutout. The had to make a save in both of the 45-minute halves to keep Lindsey Wilson off the score sheet.

Cumberlands was on the offense early on getting two shots and three corner kicks in the first four minutes of play. Sergio Infantes Castell led all players with seven shots, he also accounted for one of the shots on goal. The team's best opportunity came from his foot just three minutes into the second half. He senior created space for himself, setting him up for a shot that looked to beat the LWC keeper but went just wide keeping the game level.

UC outshot LWC 19-14, and recorded four shots on goal compared to the Blue Raiders' two, but they were unable to convert any of the chances.

The Patriots gained a man advantage in the 8' of the first over time. A late tackle on Luis Jara Encina from Lindsey Wilson's Hugo Sias resulted in the referee showing Sias the red card to send him off the pitch. Despite being up a man UC was unable to convert any chances, but kept attacking looking for the go-ahead goal.

During the overtime periods, both squads notched three shots while Cumberlands was the only on to get a shot on goal. Tommaso Ogliari took a shot since he was open just outside the box, but the long range chance was caught by the LWC goalkeeper.

These two teams had a similar finish last season when they tied in the MSC Championship Tournament and had to send the game into penalty kicks to decide a winner. In the regular season there are no shootouts so the game remained scoreless.

Cumberlands will continue Mid-South Conference action as they host Cumberland U at 4:30 PM on Sunday, February 28 at the UC Soccer Complex. The UC Sports Network will provide live video available here and live stats will be available here.
