Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rockwell, Boelter Score as Patriots Improve to 4-0

Lawrenceville, GA – The 18th-ranked UC women's soccer team netted a goal in each half, while playing stifling defense to defeat University of South Carolina Beaufort 2-0, Saturday afternoon at the GGC Stadium. With the win the Patriots improve to 4-0 on the season, marking the first time since 2015 that UC is undefeated heading into conference play.

Cumberlands was the aggressor right from the opening whistle as Jayden Boelter first two shots within the first two minutes of action.  The Patriots continued to control possession throughout the first half accounting for one more shot and three corner kicks ten minutes into the game.  The scoreless tie was broken in the 13' when Jenna Rockwell played a ball from the backline that connected with the back of the net to give UC the 1-0 lead.  Cumberlands looked to extend its lead minutes later, however three saves by the Sand Sharks' Alana Dame kept the score 1-0 with 13:36 remaining in the first half.  USCB looked for the equalizer minutes later however Laura Vogt stoopped Mari Kalvatn shot to preserve UC's 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

UC's strong play continued into the second half with the Patriots firing three shots in the first five minutes.  Cumberlands extended their lead 15 minutes into the second half as Boelter sent a long floater, past the keeper and into the upper right corner of the goal to make it 2-0.  Both defenses stepped up over the next 20 minutes as the two teams combined for three shots and a corner kick.  Katon Neal looked to put USCB on the board but Vogt tallied her second save to keep the Sand Sharks off the board.  Taylor Bouma and Laura Navajas Marin both put shots on frame, which were saved for the 2-0 final.

With the win today it marks the first time since 2018 that UC began the season 4-0.  Rockwell and Boelter have scored in back-to-back games.  It's the first time Rockwell has accomplished that feat since 2018 when she netted goals against Georgetown and Lindsey Wilson in consecutive games. Since the Sand Sharks went scoreless this marks the third shutout of Vogt's career.

The Patriots will return to the field Sunday, February 14, when they host Life in their Mid-South Conference opener.  The game is set for 2 p.m. with live stats available here and live video available here.
