Fort Wayne, IN – The sixth-ranked UC men's lacrosse team outscored fourth-ranked Indiana Tech 6-4 over the second and third quarter, however, it wasn't enough as the Patriots fell 11-6 Monday afternoon.  With the win, the Warriors improve to 4-0 overall, while the Patriots move to 2-2 on the year.

Dylan Crouch led the way for Cumberlands with three goals for his third hat trick of the season. Tanner Popovich and Dawson Coltran each added three points in the game.  Jake Morgan scooped eight ground balls and force two turnovers, while freshman goalie Michael Toohey made 17 saves, which is the second most in program history, in his Patriot debut.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first quarter, however, Indiana Tech struck first as Justin Hindman scored goal at the 11:53 mark.  Owens made four saves to keep the score 1-0 until later in the quarter.  The Warriors added a pair of goals in the final two minutes of the quarter to take a 3-0 lead.

Indiana Tech won the opening faceoff of the second and scored on the opening possession.  The Patriots responded two minutes later as Caleb Elerick connected with Crouch for a goal to cut the deficit to 4-1.  The two teams traded possession until Tanner Popovich scooped a ground ball, raced up field, and netted a man-down goal to cut the deficit to 4-2.  The teams traded goals before Christian Vanover found Coltran in front of the cage for a goal cutting the game to 5-4 with 4:32 remaining.  UC looked for the equalizer, however, a pair of saves by the Warriors coupled with a goal in the final seconds gave Indiana Tech a 6-4 edge at half.

Cumberlands game out strong in the second half putting two shots on frame before Popovich connected with Crouch for a goal to cut the deficit to 6-5 with 11:32 remaining.  The Patriots took advantage of a Warriors turnover and on the ensuing possession Crouch put a well-placed shot past the keeper for the equalizer with 9:15 remaining.  Both teams posted strong defensive efforts over the next several minutes keeping the game tied.  It stayed that way until Indiana Tech netted a goal with under a minute left to take a 7-6 advantage. The Warriors added four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter for the 11-6 final.
