Bowling Green, KY – Laura Vogt had outstanding play in Cumberlands' pair of wins this week to earn Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

This marks back-to-back weeks that Vogt takes home the honor. UC improved to 8-0 on the season defeating #11 Lindsey Wilson and (RV) Cumberland U. The freshman had to make two saves in the game against the Pheonix to earn her fifth shutout of the season. In the final minutes of the first half the Phoenix were on the attack deep in the Patriots' defensive end. The ball bounced out to just beyond the 18-yard box and a CU player took the chance for a one time shot. Vogt was able to make the basket catch and eliminate the threat.

Also, late in the game against CU, Vogt came off her line after the ball bounced over her defender's head and Phoenix player was on the attack. Vogt ran out to kick the ball out of the way to keep the shutout.

Despite not having to make many saves Vogt acts as an extra defender able to come far onto the pitch and keep the ball away from would be attackers.

This marks the third time the Kuenten, Switzerlan native has won the award in her career and UC has now earned an MSC weekly award six times this year.

The Patriots will return to the pitch on Tuesday, March 2  when they host Martin Methodist for a 4:30 pm kick off. Live stats for the game are available here with live video available here.
