Three Woman's Bowlers Earn MSC All-Conference Nominations

Bowling Green, KY- Patriot bowlers Kiara Abanto and Allysen Coryell have both been named First Team All-Conference, the Mid-South Conference office announced on Thursday. In addition, sophomore Erika Taylor was named Second Team All-Conference for the Mid-South. 
 
Abanto, a sophomore, earns first team honors for the first time in her career. Abanto started the season on fire. At the MSC Fall Invitational in October, Abanto secured a top-5 overall finish. Abanto carried that momentum into the Cincinnati Collegiate Classic in January, where she notched a second-place overall finish after she hit a total of 1,854 pins over nine games. Just two weeks ago at the Thomas Burris Memorial in Louisville, Abanto took ninth place overall after she tallied 997 pins across five games. The Rock Hill, SC, native was also named to the MSC All-Academic Team, this season. Last year as a freshman, Abanto earned a second team nomination. 
 
Coryell earns the first All-Conference honors of her UC career. After knocking down a total of 727 pins at the MSC Fall Invitational, Coryell earned a top-5 finish in the event. At the Brandon Burns Memorial, Coryell was named to the All-Tournament Team and helped Cumberlands to a third-place finish at the event. In total, Coryell hit 1,152 pins over six games, and bowled a game that saw her hit an impressive 261 pins. Throughout the year, Coryell earned two MSC Bowler of the Week awards. Similar to Abanto, Coryell was also named to this year's MSC All-Academic Team. 
 
Also, a sophomore, Taylor receives the first All-Conference nomination of her career at Cumberlands. The Centerville, OH, native help UC secure second place at the MSC Fall Invitational in Louisville, KY. During the event, Taylor notched a 15th overall finish. In her latest appearance at the Thomas Burris Memorial, Taylor notched a score of 898 pins over five games to earn a 34th overall finish. Her day included a high score of 200 and an average pin count of 179.6 pins. 
 
The Patriots will be back in action at the MSC Tournament on Friday March 11, in Bowling Green, KY.
