Box Score Hendersonville, TN – The 14
th-ranked UC men's tennis team continues their best start since at least 2000 with a 7-0 win over Freed-Hardeman 7-0 Saturday night. With the win, the Patriots improve to 10-0 for the first time since at least 2000 and remains a perfect 3-0 in MSC play.
The Patriots dominance has been since in conference play so far this season as UC has yet to drop a point so far through their three conference matches. This match was originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, however, inclement weather forced the match to be moved to Friday night.
The Patriots got on the board first winning the doubles point with wins at #1 and #2 doubles. At #1 doubles, UC top duo of
Martin Barbier and
Eric Banoub notched a 6-0 win to extend their win streak to nine straight matches. It was the third time in the last four matches that the tandem posted a 6-0 win.
Luis Montull and Mattis le Montagner followed suite with a 6-2 win at #2 doubles. With the point secured #3 doubles left their match unfinished giving UC a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Martin Muller extend UC's lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-4 win at #2 doubles. Le Montagner and Banoub followed with 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 win at #3 and #4 singles, respectfully, to clinch the match.
Luis Montull improved his singles recorded to 9-1 after a 6-0, 7-5 win at #3 singles.
Robert Wu Hung-Ju followed that with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #6 singles to extend the Patriots lead to 6-0. Barbier closed out the match with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win at #1 singles to remain unbeaten and secure the 7-0 final.
The Patriots will return to the court Monday, March 15 when they travel to Lawrenceville, GA to face top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
