Williamsburg, KY- A goal and an assist for both
Rodrigo Riveros and
Sergio Infantes Castell propelled the Patriots to a 2-0 shutout win over Georgetown College on Sunday in Williamsburg. The victory gives Cumberlands four straight wins and improves them to 7-2-1 in Mid-South Conference play.

Though the Patriots heavily out chanced the Tigers in the early portions of the first half, neither team could find the back of the net. Cumberlands noted three corner kick opportunities in the first fifteen minutes of action.
In the 25' Riveros found himself wide open in the Georgetown defensive Box. After a couple of quick moves through the middle of the field, Infantes Castell used his right foot to shovel a pass to a cutting Riveros. The freshman from Paraguay struck the ball with his right foot and beat the goalkeeper low to the left corner of the cage to give the Patriots a 1-0 advantage. For Riveros, its goals in three straight games.
Just under ten minutes later, in the 32' Infantes Castell found himself open with an opportunity to fire. The Striker let the ball fry with his right foot, but it was shut down by the Georgetown goalie, Jacob Roberts. A few minutes later, in the 39' Infantes Castell again tested the Tigers netminder but couldn't find the back of the net. UC took the 1-0 lead into the half.
Similar to the first half, both offenses couldn't get anything going for the first portion of the second half. In the 64' the Patriots added to their lead.
Luis Jara Encina took a pass from Riveros and spotted Infantes Castell open in the 18-yard box of Georgetown. Infantes Castell beat the Tigers goalkeeper to the right side of the net to give Cumberlands an insurance goal and a 2-0 lead. The marker for Infantes Castell gives him a team leading six goals on the season.
In the remaining 23 minutes, the Patriots continued to control the play and wouldn't surrender a shot. Cumberlands held on to a 2-0 victory to move to 7-5-2 overall on the season. With just one gaming remaining on the schedule, UC currently sits in a tie for second place in the Mid-South standings with #7 Lindsey Wilson.
The Patriots will look to finish the regular season on a five game win streak as they head to Thomas More on Tuesday March 23, for a 7 PM conference matchup against the Saints.
