Following three consecutive attack errors by the Tigers, UC was able to bounce back and cut the Tigers lead to 17-12. The Patriots would continue the momentum notching back-to-back points with a service ace from Danielle Jackson and a kill from Chapman that cut the Tigers lead to 14-17. Similar to set one, UC struggled midway through the third set as the Tigers went on a 13-2 run that extended their lead to 15-5. The following possession, Shelby Lackey, who came off over a month hiatus, sparked a 6-0 run that featured three service aces and minimized the Tigers lead to 15-11.
