Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#3 Patriots Posts Several Career-High’s and Program Records in Senior Day Win over Saints

Williamsburg, KY – The third-ranked UC women's lacrosse team had 14 players record a point as the Patriots set new program records for goals and points in a game in the 28-0 win over Thomas More Saturday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse Complex.  The game also marked UC's fourth shutout in program history and their first since February 29, 2020 as Cumberlands improves to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in MSC play.

The Patriots seniors of Florence Andrieu and Emily Heim led the charge for UC.  Andrieu tallied a career-high five goals and nine points in the match, while Heim finished with two goals, four assists, three draw controls and a ground ball, which was the 100th of her career. Bella Ricchiazzi chipped in a team-high six goals and dished two assists as Rachel Leigh and Reegan Hensley both recorded hat tricks.

Trinity Brown continues to be a ball machine, scooping a career-high 11 draw controls to go along with a team-high three caused turnovers and four ground balls in the win.  The sophomore as netted a career high three points in the win.  Olivia McCarrell and Hannah McWhorter each played a half notching a combined three saves.

The Patriots won the opening draw control and on the ensuing possession Andrieu netted her first goal of the game 39 seconds into the game.  The senior duo of Andrieu and Heim each dished out an assist to Leigh and Brooke Ollerenshaw to extend the lead to 3-0.  Hensely and Ricchiazzi combined for UC's next five goals extending the Patriots lead to 8-0 with 19:46 remaining.  Midway through the first half Tasie Fox dished out her first career assist as she found Hannah Churchley.  Ollerenshaw added her career-high second goal of the game while Heim found Ricchiazzi for a goal to extend the lead to 11-0.  Andrieu added two more goals, including a behind-the-back shot off an assist from Stephanie Meyer, as part of a four goal run to give UC a 15-0 lead at the break.  McCarrell made two saves during the half to keep the Saints scoreless.

It was similar in the second half as Leigh and Carolina Johnson each converted a free-position goals.  Heim added an assist to Ricchiazzi before finding the back of the net for her first goal of the game, off an assist from McCarrell, who notched her first collegiate assist.  Cumberlands added five more goals to take a 24-0 lead with 9:20 remaining.  Kelly Webb added a free position goal, for her first goal of the season, while Barrett Holston scored her first collegiate goal as part of a four goal run for the 28-0 final.

UC also tallied 18 ground balls and 16 assists in the win, both of which ranks third in program history.  

Cumberlands will return to the field Thursday, April 1, when they host Thomas More.  The game is set to start at 3 p.m. with live video available here and live stats available here.
