#3 Patriots Extend Win Streak in After Blanking Thomas More

Crestview Hills, KY – Playing the same team twice in less than a week, the third-ranked UC women's lacrosse team picked up right where they left off defeating Thomas More 20 -0 Thursday night. The game also marked UC's five shutout in program history and their first back-to-back shutouts in program history as Cumberlands improves to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in MSC play.

For the third straight game, Florence Andrieu paced the Patriots with three goals, five assists, and a career-high eight draw controls.   Bella Richiazzi and Emily Heim netted four goals apiece, while Ricchiazzi added four ground balls and four caused turnovers as well as six draw controls. Tasie Fox notched a career-high six ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Andrieu got the scoring started with an unassisted goal two minutes into the first half.  UC won the ensuing draw control and on the Patriots possession Rachel Leigh found Ricchiazzi for a goal seven seconds later. Andrieu dished out assists to Ricchiazzi, Leigh, Ollerenshaw, and Reegan Hensley for four out of five goals, before netting a goal of her own to extend the lead to 8-0 with 13:37 remaining.  UC closed out the first half with six unanswered goals, including three from Heim to extend their lead to 14-0.  McCarrell made a pair of saves in the half to keep the Saints off the board.

The second half opened with Carolina Johnson tallying an unassisted goal less than a minute in.  On Cumberlands next offensive possession Ricchiazzi found Kenzie Rogers for a goal before Heim netted her fourth goal of the day to make it 17-0 with 24:20 remaining.  Andrieu, Johnson and Tasie Fox each added a goal to make it 20-0 with 12:26 remaining.  Looking to secure their second straight shutout, Hannah McWhorter made a pair of saves, while Heim and Fox each forced a Saints turnover for the 20-0 final.

Cumberlands will return to the field Wednesday, April 7, when they host ninth-ranked Georgetown.  The game is set to start at 3 p.m. with live video available here and live stats available here.
