Williamsburg, KY – Six weeks after competing at their qualifying regionals, the Patriots UC Archery team posted 19 top-ten finishes, including a trio of podium finishes at the USA Indoor National Championships.  Madison Cox and Katie Karr each captured National Championships in their respective events.

Cox took top honors in the women's bowhunter division as the sophomore scored a 595.  Not only did that score earn Cox a national championship, it was also a USA Archery Collegiate record for a 600 round, breaking the previous record by three points.  The McKee, KY native hit 55 10's and five 9's during her 600 round.  It's her first indoor national championship of her career.

Karr captured the national championship in the women's bowhunter division.  Karr hit five 10's and 20 9's during her 600 round to record a 472.  That score gave Karr an eight-point win over the runner-up finisher as she captures her first indoor national title as a Patriots.

Elliott Cross lead a trio of Patriots in the men's bowhunter division to top finishes.  The sophomore shoot a 594 to place third in the event and land himself on the podium with a bronze medal.  Coby Hudson and Brandon Durham tallied a 593 and 591 to place sixth and eighth, respectfully.

UC added a pair of top-ten finishers in the women's bowhunter division along with Cox.  Kaitlyn Shields notched a 580 to finish fourth as Sara Sherman placed eight after shooting a 571.

The Patriots had a quartet of top-ten finishers in the men's compound division led by Carson Sapp.  Sapp and teammate Aaron Adams both totaled a 587, however, Sapp edged out Adams for fourth place.  Jase Boils and Tanner Barker each tallied a 583 to finish tied for seventh. 

A trio of Patriots posted top-ten finishes in the women's compound division.  Brooke Miller edged out Hannah Moose for fourth place as the duo tallied a 577 and 576, respectfully.  Amanda Newland shoot a 572 to place eighth in the division.

Elijah Crawford continued his strong campaign, just missing the podium by one spot.  The freshman barebow shooter recorded a 450 to place fourth.  On the women's side Kimberly Wheat placed seventh with a score of 395, while Alexandra Elzy 384 was good enough to place ninth.

In recurve Jacob Valentini and Miranda Luria both notched a tenth place finish.  Valentini carded a 543, while Lauria shot a 530 over their respective 600 round.

The Patriots will return to action Thursday, April 8, when they take part in the USA Outdoor Regional Competition.  The MSC Outdoor Championship is set for Saturday, April 10, at the UC All-Purpose Field.
