Kansas City, MO – The 2020-2021 season featured six wins and nine top-three finishes and their 11^th straight MSC regular season championship and their ninth straight MSC tournament title, the Patriots women's golf team capped off its season with a pair of golfers earning NAIA All-American honors, announced by the national office Thursday.  Carlee Shoemaker is a first team All-American selection, while Lucia Pena was named a second team All-American.

Shoemaker had a record setting year for the Patriots that culminated with her becoming the fifth Patriot in program history to earn NAIA First Team All-American and the fifth multi-time All-American.  The Central City, KY native was the Mid-South Conference Golfer of the Year and a first team all-conference selection after winning the MSC Spring Championship and placing third at the MSC Tournament.  Shoemaker set program records for lowest average score for a season averaging 74.208 strokes per round.  One of Shoemaker's biggest highlights came during the final round of the Heritage Hill Invitational when she carded a program best 67 (-5) that included the first hole-in-one in program history.

The junior earned Medalist honors five times this season, including four straight tournament which tied her with Kaitlyn Riley for most consecutive wins in a season.  Shoemaker five wins in a season ranks second most in program history as she is also tied with Liz Stephens for second on UC's all-time wins list with eight over her four year career.

Pena joins an elite club becoming just the third Patriot golfer to be named a NAIA All-American three times. Pena recorded four top-five finishes, while placing in the top-ten at five other tournaments.  The Ciudad Ri Dideal, Spain native averaged 77.208 over her 24 rounds of golf this season, including carding a season-best, 69 (-3), in the first round of the RedHawk Fall Classic.  Pena placed third in that event, which was her highest finish of the season.  Pena sank six birdies to finish fifth at the MSC Spring Classic before notching a sixth-place finish at the MSC tournament.  The junior led UC on during the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament as she shot even par, 72, to help her finish 25^th at the tournament overall.

Pena joins Riley and Stephens as the only three golfers in the women's program history to earn All-American honors three times.

The Patriots finished 13^th at the NAIA National Tournament. It is also the sixth time in program history that Cumberlands has had multiple All-Americans in the same season.
