Henderson, TN – UC keeps their winning streak alive as they sweep Freed-Hardeman 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-21).
The Patriots offense was led by
Emily Prewitt who came away with 13 kills,
Lily Chapman and
Danielle Jackson both added 9 kills.
Juliet Banks came away with 20 digs and two aces,
Anna Blumeier added seven kills and three aces, and
Savanah Schwarz led the passing attack with 35 assists.
The first set started off tightly contested, but UC was able to take control of the set late off of two aces by Chapman and a block by
Shelby Lackey and Jackson. Then Jackson notched an ace to extend the lead to 20-12. From there two kills by Chapman and Blumeier got the Patriots to set point, and Prewitt ended the set with a kill.
The second set started off in the favor of FHU, but a kill from Blumeier got UC the lead 4-3. From there UC went on a 9 -2 run featuring three kills and an ace from Blumeier, a block by
Olivia Verdecchia, and two kills by
Emily Prewitt. Chapman ended the set 25-18 with a kill.
The third set begin tightly contested with FHU having the 13-11 lead. But two kills by Chapman, a kill from Lackey, and back-to-back blocks from Chapman, Jackson, and Lackey gave UC the lead 20-14. Kills from Blumeier and Prewitt gave UC the 24-19 lead, and Chapman retired the Lions with a kill.
The Patriots volleyball team is now 8-3 and have a six match - 16-set win streak. In their next match, they will face off against Campbellsville University on Thursday September 16 at 7 pm. For live stats click
