1/23/2022 6:09:00 PM

Cincinnati, OH – The Patriot women's bowling team had their best team and individual performances of the season as they took home third place in the MSC Cincinnati Classic. Three Patriots posted top-ten individual performances, the first time this has happened this season.

After day one the Pats sat in sixth place with 4379 pins and an average of 875.8 pins per game. Knowing they needed to boost their performance form the first day, UC came out strong and didn't hold back in their final four games as they knocked down a total of 3884 pins, the highest score out of any team on day two. Their 971-pin average is the highest of the season for the women, and just under a 100-pin increase.

Mickayla Shannon was a major part of the Patriots success this weekend as she posted her highest performance of the year. The senior finished fifth and was named to the All-Tournament team after tallying 1722 pins through her nine games. This 191.3 average was also her highest of the season.

Allysen Coryell and Kiara Abanto finish just behind their teammate as they finished sixth and seventh overall out of 159 bowlers on the weekend. Coryell hit just one pin less than Shannon for a total of 1721 and an average of 191.2. Abanto tallied just four less pins than her teammate, finishing with 1717 pins over nine games. Her average of 190.8 is a season high for her as well.

St. Francis (IL) placed first in Cincinnati after knocking down 8618 total pins with Tennessee Southern coming in second after hitting 8332 pins. UT Southern was the only MSC team to place in front of Cumberlands on the weekend, as Pikeville and Tennessee Weselyan placed fourth and fifth.

This was the final regular season MSC event of the year, solidifying the regular season rankings before the MSC tournament. The Patriots finished fourth overall with a record of 41-14. Tennessee Southern sits at the top of the table with a record of 44-1. Pikeville and Campbellsville place second and third with records of 40-5 and 32-13 respectively.

UC will compete one more time before the MSC tournament as they travel back to Ohio for the Muskie Mash in Coshocton in two weeks.
