Bowling Green, KY – Lidia Quezada earned the top-qualifying score and won three gold medals en route to being named the Mid-South Conference Women's Archer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.  It marks the second straight year that a UC recurve shooter has earned this honor and it was Quezada first award of her career.

Quezada opened the championship with the best round of qualifying as she carded a 272 in round one.  The freshman followed that up with a 263 in round two for a total score of 535, which included 23 ten's. 

In the head-to-head matches, Quezada posted consecutive 6-2 wins over Layla Blevins and Madison Loveless to advance to the gold medal match against teammate Ceridwyn Salyers.  In the gold medal match, Saylers jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the third end, however, Quezada took the fourth end 26-25 to cut the match to 5-3.  In the fifth end, the Bali, CA native earned two points (28-27) to even the score and force a shoot-off.  Quezada won the shoot-off to earn her first individual gold medal.
 
In the mixed team round the duo of Quezada and Valentini made quick work of Lindsey Wilson with a 6-0 win in the gold medal match.  The freshman capped off the championships teaming with Salyers and Whitney Vandiver for first place finish in the women's recurve team round with a 6-0 win over Lindsey Wilson.

Quezada was one of six Patriots to claim an individual conference title, one of five who were first time champions, and one of three freshman champions. She also closed out the week as one of just three archer to claim a trio gold medals.  Cumberlands notched 16 gold medals on the weekend and finished with an MSC record 233 points.

The Patriots will now set their focus on the USA Archery Indoor National Championships, which takes place February 11-13 in Kennesaw, GA.
