NAIA Coaches' Poll: 6

Kansas City, MO-  The University of the Cumberlands Patriots women's soccer team holds their fourth place ranking in the NAIA Coaches' Poll for the fourth consecutive week. The Pats earned 456 votes after recording two wins this past week against top-20 opponents.

Cumberlands 3-2 victory over UT Southern may have been the biggest win in program history. Prior to Wednesdays' match, UC was 0-5 against the defending national champions. The momentum switched though when the Pats fought to score a golden goal in the final minutes of the game.

The leading scorer for the Patriots, Jayden Boelter recorded her sixth brace of the season. The sophomore has 17 goals on the season and is tied for 6^th in the NAIA with Estelle Ekada of Tennessee Southern. She was also a part of the tie-breaking goal that came off the foot of Irene Medina with less than five minutes of play remaining.

In the second match of the week, Cumberlands defeated #14 Cumberland Tennessee 3-1. During the match, three different Patriots scored a goal. Carola Fontan with her fourth goal of the season, and Noah Paalman a freshman from Rijssen, Overijessel scored her first goal as a patriot. The other UC goal came off the foot of career assist leader Laura, Navajas.

Navajas notched the first goal of the match to put the Patriots up by one. With her performances in each of the matches this week, Navajas earned Mid-South conference defensive player of the week for the first time in her career. She was pivotal on both sides of the ball, being involved in almost every play and limiting opponents to shot attempts.

The Patriots recorded stands at 10-0-3 overall, and 5-0-3 in the Mid-South. As they continue regular season play, they will match up against #13 Lindsey Wilson and (RV) Campbellsville, as well as Pikeville and Thomas Moore.

The next match is set for Thursday, October 13^th against Lindsey Wilson in Colombia, KY. Kickoff is set for 6pm EST.
