Bowling Green, KY - After the first day of the Mid-South Conference Fall Championships, the UC Patriots are surging in the second round to sit in first place. Cumberlands finished the day completing round one and most of round two and currently has three golfers within the top-ten of the individual leaderboard.

Leading the way for the Patriots is Maria Neira, who is tied for third place at +12. Neira carded an 83 (+11) in the first round of 18, with one birdie and six shots on par. Going into round two, the sophomore notched two birdies on holes three and five to be one-under-par at the turn. Though 17 holes, she sits +1 with one hole to play in the morning.

Behind Neira is Ginevra Capo, who finished rounds one and two and current sits in fifth place. In the first round of play, she carded a score of 81 (+9) with one birdie on hole 11. On hole four of round one, Capo double bogeyed, but was able to cut her score in half on the second round of 18 to garner a birdie. She finished the second round with a score of 76 (+4), bringing her total score to 157 (+13).

Rounding out the team score for the Patriots was Viviane Braun and Sharon Holczer. Braun was able to complete the first round of 18 and made it through 17 holes of the second round. In her first round, she carded one birdie and eight pars. Although she has not finished the second round, she is on target to improve upon her score, siting at an even 72 with just one hole left to play.  Holzcer shot an 80 (+8) during the first round and has tallied two birdies so far in the second round with two holes left.

Bruan is in a two-way tie for sixth place individually at +14, while Holczer is in 15th place on the leaderboard.  

Also competing today was Emily Allen. Allen opened the day by carding an 88 (+16) in round one has two holes remaining in the second round. She has improved that score in the second round sinking a pair of birdies and is sitting at +8 as she goes into tomorrow's play.

Cumberlands is on track to secure a third first place victory to close out the 2022 fall season. The golfers will be up bright and early to hit the greens at 7:45 a.m. CST to completed rounds two and three to close out the tournament.
