Bowling Green, KY-
Amalia Wichmann, a freshman defender from Berlin, Germany garners her first Mid-South Conference player of the week award after her performance in last weeks match against Thomas More. Wichmann held the Saints offense to six shot attempts and added an insurance goal for the Patriots late in the game.
So far this season, Wichmann has been a crucial part of the UC squad. She is the only player to have started in all 16 matches, while contributing on the offensive and defensive sides of the pitch. Wichmann has a total of 6 points this season, with two goals and two assists.
During the Patriots most recent match-up against Thomas Moore, Wichmann was on fire. For the majority of the game, she helped limit the Saints offense to only six shot attempts, four of which were on goal.
Towards the end of the match, Wichmann notched an insurance goal to put the Patriots up 2-0. From 40 yards out, the defender sent the ball sailing through the air and into the upper left ninety of the goal. Her first unassisted goal as a Patriot came in good fashion with a beautifully sent ball through the air and past the Saints goalkeeper.
