Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots secured their second win of the season as they took on the Lions of Bryan College on Saturday evening. Four players finished in double figures on the day as UC moves to 2-0 on the year, the third straight season that they have earned two wins to start the year.
Jahi Hinson had another huge day for the Pats. The senior had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, and shot 9-16 from the field.
J.J. Ramey was the second leading scorer on Saturday, tallying 17 points.
Jadrian Flores scored 14 while
Brady Bell had 10 to finish the game.
Cumberlands jumped out to a hot start, taking an 18-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Threes from Hinson and
Isaiah Payton, along with layups from Ramey, Flores, and
Lamar Harris Jr. Then with 7:23 left in the half, a fast break dunk from Flores and three from Hinson gave the Patriots a 31-15 lead.
In the final minutes of the opening half, a couple layups from Bell, a three from Ramey, and a pair of free throws from Hinson allowed Cumberlands to take the 40-25 lead into the locker room. Ramey ended the half a perfect 4-4 from the field with an additional free throw for 10 of his 17 points in the game.
UC never trailed in the second half. A three from Ramey opened up the half with another three and lay in from Hinson to follow. The Lions now trailed 35-48 with just over 12 minutes remaining. Bryan would go on a 12-5 run over the next six minutes to cut the UC lead to six. This would be the closest the game would be, as the Pats began to pull away in the final eight minutes.

Kamari Kenemore layup off of a Flores offensive board started UC's final run of the game. Flores added two layups and a dunk in the final four minutes along with Hinson's fourth three of the game. Ramey earned his 17
th point of the day after a two handed slam. This grew the Patriot lead to 23, their largest of the game. A late bucket from the Lions moved the score to 72-51, which was the final in Williamsburg on Saturday.
