Patriots Put Together Third Best Finish in Program History

Tallahassee, FL – The Women's Cross Country team took to the starting line at the NAIA National Championships on Friday morning. They came away with a 23rd place team finish, the third highest in program history.
 
Emily Bird was the first Patriot finisher on the day. The freshman ran a new personal best time of 18:13.7 to finish 42nd overall, just two spots away from All-American honors. Bird's performance etched her name in the history books as it was a top-10 5k time in program history. It was also the eighth best finish at the national meet and was the third fastest time in this meet in program history as well.
 
Ashlyn Liddle paced an 18:56.5 on Friday to earn 103rd place. This performance marked the 10th fastest 5k in an NAIA National Tournament meet. The third Cumberlands finisher in Florida was Lauren Sanderson. The sophomore finished 172nd overall, clocking a 19:30.1. Ashley Terry paced a 19:36.2 5k for 191st overall and Morgan Lucason put together her first scoring performance of the year as the Patriots fifth finisher. She crossed the finish line in 20:07.5, just five seconds off her PR, and placed 250th overall.
 
Nevaeh Warren and Victoria Richardson were the final two UC finisher son the day. Warren ran her 5k in 20:18.2 while her teammate Richardson finished her race in 20:33.7. The two brought home 264th and 279th individual finishes.
 
Taylor University took first place overall with a score of 50. Milliagn scored 177 points for second with College of Idaho behind them in third scoring 201 points. The Patriots tallied 581 points on the day for 23rd, just five behind Carroll who placed 22nd.
 
This wraps up the Women's Cross Country 2022 campaign. This year marked the team's third straight MSC Title and NAIA Nationals appearance. They garnered six All-Conference honorees and brought home MSC Freshman and Coach of the Year. They will take this momentum into the Indoor Track & Field season which starts in less than a month.
