NAIA Coaches' Poll: 9
Bowling Green, KY- The Pats maintain their 3
rd place ranking in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll with 467 votes. Since the last poll, Cumberlands played their final regular season match against Pikeville and won 6-0 to secure the regular season title.
The Patriots 6-0 win over Pikeville was one to remember- Four different Pats scored a goal and the team recorded their most goals in a single game of the season. Three goals came off the boot of Abby Baker, which was the first hattrick of her career. Baker has been a key part of the Patriot offense as of late, scoring five goals in the past four games.
Laura Navajas, the programs assist leader also notched a goal which was her second of the season. Olaya Blanco and Jayden Boleter added some insurance goals for the Pats in the second half to help secure the win over Pikeville.
The team has remained undefeated through 17 matches, 11 of which came against top-ranked opponents. The biggest win of the season thus far has been against the reigning national champions, #8 UT Southern.
Up next for the Cumberlands is the Mid-South Conference Tournament. Since the Pats won the regular season title with a 9-0-1 record in conference play, they await the announcement of their first opponent. They will play the winner of the match between Shawnee State and Georgetown that is set to kickoff this afternoon.
