Kansas City, MO- After going undefeated in the regular season 14-0-3 and having the highest MRPI in the NAIA, the Cumberlands Patriots will be one of the ten sites that will be hosting the 2022 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship First & Second Round, the national office announced Thursday.

It marks the second time in the past three seasons that Cumberlands will host opening round at the UC Soccer Complex. The first time the Patriots hosted an opening round was the 2020 season after making capturing the MSC tournament title. This is the fourth consecutive year that UC will compete in the NAIA tournament.

The opening rounds will be held in Williamsburg, KY from November 17-19 and will feature four teams. Thursday November 17 will host be the two first round games and then the winners from those matches will play a championship on November 19. The winner from each opening round site will then compete in Orange Beach, Al beginning on November 29.

Selections of each site were made in part by the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Selection Committee. The committee is comprised of head coaches and administrators from around the nation. Selections take into account geography, facilities and host qualification. The application deadline was on November 1, 2022.

Cumberlands has earned the NAIA Opening Round spot with their current NAIA Poll ranking of #3 in the country. Their overall record of 14-0-3 marks the first time the Pats have been undefeated in the regular season under Head Coach Steve Hamilton.

UC and the other teams in the NAIA Tournament will await their seeding on November 14 for the selection show at 12 p.m. EST. Once the teams are announced, game times and the fan policy at the UC Soccer Complex will be released.

Cumberlands will face off against ninth-seed Shawnee State. The game is set for Friday, November 4th with a 4:30PM start time at the UC Soccer Complex. Live stats for the game can be found here, and live video can be found here.
