Kansas City, MO – In the final NAIA Coaches' Poll of the fall season, the women's golf team leaps to the No. nine spot in the country. The Patriots were ranked 19
th in the previous poll and have competed in three tournaments, including the MSC Fall Championships, since that poll was released.
Cumberlands has placed in the top-four in every tournament in October, including a first-place finish at the Deere Run Invitational in Silvis, IL. Maria Neira was the top Patriot finisher on the weekend, placing third with a score of 78 (+36).
Sharon Holczer and
Viviane Braun were the second and third finishers for UC, taking sixth and 21
st place respectively.
The next weekend would feature the Mid-South Conference Championships where Ginevra Capo took home the individual championship. Capo earned the win in her first conference tournament by one stroke, shooting a 233 (+17) over the course of the tourney. She led the patriots to a second place overall finish.
These two finishes, accompanied by a fourth-place finish in the Faulkner Match Play Invitational, allowed Cumberlands to jump 10 spots in the poll. This was the largest jump from any team mentioned on this list.
UC has four golfers mentioned in the top-65 on the NAIA GolfStat list. Neira comes in as the top-ranked Patriot in 30
th while Capo and Holczer are three spots apart at 57
th and 60
th. Braun is listed 64
th to round out UC's golfers in this ranking.
