NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll

Kansas City, MO – The UC women's soccer team has been hard at work gearing up for the Mid-South Conference Tournament the Patriots have also held strong being ranked third in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, the national office announced Wednesday.  UC earned 437 points to hold its position for the fourth straight poll and it will be the highest ranking that the Patriots close out its regular season with in program history.

Cumberlands is 15-0-3 on the season after a 4-0 win over Shawnee State in the MSC Quarterfinals.  UC has won nine straight contest and are 9-0-3 against teams that are ranked or receiving votes.  This is the Patriots first undefeated regular season in program history as UC is set to host the NAIA First and Second Rounds of the national tournament for the second time.

The Patriots have been firing on all cylinders with four players tallying double-digit point totals, led by Jayden Boelter with 18 goals and 40 points.  Laura Navajas, UC's career assist leader, has 17 points including five points in the MSC quarterfinals which led to her being named the MSC Offensive Player of the Week.  The MSC Freshman of the Year Carola Fontan and Abby Baker has 16 and 13 points, respectively. 

Defensively, Laura Vogt and Georgia Martell are ranked first and second in the MSC, respectively in goals against average and save percentage. Rita Aguye Cots, the MSC First Team All-Conference selection, Amy Anderson, Amalia Wichmann, and Selena Barnett anchor the Patriots defense that is holding opponents to 7.11 shots per game with 10 shutouts on the season.

Keiser earned 467 points including 17 first place votes to be atop the poll, while Marian remains ranked second.   UT Southern remains ranked-eight, while Cumberland and Lindsey Wilson dropped to 17^th and 22^nd, respectively.  Campbellsville is the lone MSC team receiving votes.

The Patriots return to the pitch this afternoon as they face fifth-seed Campbellsville in the semifinals of the conference tournament.  UC defeated the Tigers 2-1 early this season and are seeking to advance to the MSC Championship game for the fourth straight year.  Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. with live stats available here and live video available here.
