Williamsburg, KY – Closing out the season with strong performances during the postseason helped the Patriots women's cross country team be named the Texas Roadhouse Team of the Month for November, announced by the athletic department Thursday.  The University of the Cumberlands Athletic Department in conjunction with their corporate partner Texas Roadhouse are presenting the "Texas Roadhouse Team of the Month", which will be awarded to one Patriot team each month.

Cumberlands opened the month by capturing their third consecutive Mid-South Conference championship, before posting a 23rd place at the NAIA National Championships.  UC entered the month with one win and a pair of top-five finishes on the season.

The Patriots scored 47 points to earn their third straight MSC title and qualify for the NAIA National Championships.  UC had all five of their scorers finish in the top-17 runners across the finish line, while the Patriots had six runners earn all-conference accolades.  Emily Bird led the way for UC crossing the line in 19:05.0 to finish runner-up.  That performance also aided her in being named the MSC Freshman of the Year.  Ashlyn Liddle and Victoria Richardson both garnered First Team All-Conference accolades after finishing fifth and eighth, respectively.  Ashley Terry clocked a 20:24.9 to place 15th, while Lauren Sanderson finished 17th to round out the scoring.  Nevaeh Warren placed 19th becoming the third Patriot to earn Second Team All-Conference accolades.  In addition to winning the team title, Head Coach Bradley Sowder was named the MSC Coach of the Year.

At the 2022 NAIA National Championships, UC tallied 581 points to earn a 23rd place finish.  That finish was the Patriots third highest in program history.  Bird was UC's top runner, placing 42nd with a time of 18:13.7, which is the tenth fastest time in the program.  Liddle clocked an 18:56.5, which is the tenth fastest time at the championships.  Sanderson and Terry crossed the line in 19:30.1 and 19:36.2, respectively, while Morgan Lucason posted a five second personal best with a time of 20:07.5.

Cumberlands have now turned their attention towards indoor season, which kicks-off later this week.  The Patriots will take part in both the BSC Indoor Icebreaker and the Commonwealth Classic this weekend.
