Bowling Green, KY – While the Cumberlands women's swimming and diving team is in their final prepartions for the conference championships, 13 of their student-athletes have been recognized for their success in the classroom as the Mid-South Conference announced its Academic All-Conference team Tuesday.  UC's 13 award winners leads the way for the conference, as they are the lone team with at least 10 honorees.

Rebecca Loftus leads the Patriots as the lone three-time recipient of this award.  The senior sprint freestyler is seeking to added to her five all-conference honors as well later this week.  

Maria Basto, Kayana Cook, Allison Lovell, Jami Margolen, Sara Overly, Leah Thomas, Hanne te Velthuis, have all earned this distinction twice in their careers, while Elle Hays, Emma Lehmkuhl, , Emilia Martinez Morales, Liberty Poley, Gracie Scott are all first-time recipients.

In addition to being named to the academic all-conference team, junior Sara Overly was also selected as Cumberlands representative on the MSC women's swimming Champions of Character team.

In total 68 swimmers from across the conference has earned this disctintion.  To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.25 GPA and been enrolled in college for at least one year.

The Patriots will return to the water Thursday, February 3, when they travel to Kingsport, TN for the Mid-South Conference Championship.
