UC Finish 14th out of 65 in Hoosier Classic

Indianapolis, IN – The Patriots women's bowling team competed in the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic this weekend. Cumberlands, coming off of a third place finish in the MSC Tournament, posted a 14th place finish out of 65 teams. Day one consisted of six individual games while 15 baker games completed the tournament on day two.
 
Kiara Abanto led the way for UC on day one with a total pinfall of 1145 through her six games, earning a 51 place finish out of 445 bowlers. She averaged a score of 190.8 over these six games. Abanto bowled over 200 twice on Saturdaty, her best score of 226 coming in the third game.
 
Haleigh Lawwell and Allysen Coryell were the next Patriots to finish, placing 70th and 76th individually. Lawwell tallied a score of 1117 with a 186.2 average, and bowled her best score of 202 in the final game of the day. Coryell started off hot with back-to-back scores of 231 and 223 in the first two games. She finished with an 1109 pinfall, averaging 184.8 per game. Mickayala Shannon bowled five games for a score of 936, while Erika Taylor (878) and Kerrigan Welch (379) rounded out the Patriot bowlers on the day.
 
Cumberlands competed in 15 baker games on Saturday to end the tournament. They bowled one game over 200, scoring 214 in the 11th game. Games five and 12 saw the Patriots second best scores of the tournament, both ending with a score of 196 through ten frames. UC finished the day with a total pinfall of 2625 for an average of 175 pins per game. Cumberlands finished with a total score of 8189 through their two days of work.
 
Witchita State took home first place with a pinfall of 8766 while Mount Mercy and Davenport finished second and third with scores of 8742 and 8573 apiece. SCAD placed fourth tallying a score of 8565, while MSC Runner-Up Pikeville rounded out the top-five finishers in the event. Cumberlands finished 14th, two spots in front of 16th place Tennessee Southern who won the Mid-South Championship just one week ago.
